I like widgets. And so do a lot of other people it seems. At least they have become mainstream the last couple of years with widget engines from Google, Yahoo, Apple, Microsoft, etc.

Since the new MythTV 0.21 release is using protocol 40, all frontends, official or not, should be in sync with that to ensure that they work properly.
This has just happened for MythTv Player. The new version is 0.4.2.

Those interested in the development of the MythTV frontend for Windows will be glad to know that a build script is in the making. Written in perl, it will serve the same purpose as the current build script for MacOS X.

HEXUS.com has a nine page article covering the setup of Ubuntu 7.04 with MythTV. It also covers the use of uPnP to share your library with Windows Media Player and has a short section covering what to expect in MythTV 0.21.

MythTv Player is not an official MythTV Frontend, but definately much more convenient than a Samba connection.
It has been updated to 0.4.1. It’s just a bugfix where files where not gettings closed correctly.
