Small LinuxMCE update

“A new small update is available. It contains few fixes for Update Media, MythTV Plug-in and the Launch Manager.”
This is the statement on the LinuxMCE website. No version number or detailed changelog is available.

Weekly builds go live for Mythbuntu

Two days ago Mythbuntu started their weekly builds of the MythTV release-0-20-fixes branch.
Actually there are also weekly builds of trunk, but if you go for that, be aware that you will not receive any support from the Ubuntu MythTV team.

MythTV on AppleTV running Linux - HD playback is possible

I’ve had a few posts in the past about MythTV on AppleTV. They have all been about a solution where AppleTV is running OS X or whatever the stock AppleTV OS is called.
The other option is of course to have AppleTV run Linux and then run the MythTV frontend on that.

Mythbuntu install experience

Mythbuntu which in the latest release is based on Ubuntu 7.10, is receiving some very nice words in a lengthy install description.

Mythbuntu 7.10 Alpha 4 released

The release statement is here. Mythbuntu is based on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon which is scheduled for final release on October 18th.
Significant changes:

Control centre

You can use the control centre to easily switch between, backend, frontend configurations, i.e. BE/FE combo, BE only, etc.
You can now add/remove MythTV plugins
LIRC configuration
Enable/disable services such as SSH, Samba, NFS

MythTV 0.20.2 packages available for Ubuntu, Gentoo, MacOS, openSUSE

MythTV 0.20.2 was just released and already packages are available for a wide range of distributions.

MythTV packages are now available for Ubuntu and thus MythBuntu. Support is available for Gutsy as well as Feisty and Edgy.
New ebuilds are also available in portage for Gentoo.
There is a new MacOS PPC frontend

Mythbuntu 7.10 Public Alpha 4 sneak peek

Public Alpha 4 is not available yet, in fact it is not so long ago Alpha 3 was announced, but there are some screenshots available of how Mythbuntu Control Center will look like in Alpha 4. They are on mythbuntu.org which David Morris has announced is now up and running again.

mythbuntu.org has been down since the weekend and it is still not up.
David Morris who is part of the Mythbuntu group tells you where you can find the iso until mythbuntu.org is up and running again.

Mythbuntu 7.10 Public Alpha 3 released

There is a new release available of mythbuntu. If you didn’t know, it is a distribution made for MythTV, based on Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon).
There are lots of small additions in this new alpha, with an AMD64 build and lirc support as the main ones. It is beginning to look like a really nice distribution. [...]

LinuxMCE 0704 RC1 available

It used to be called version 1.1, but since each release will be tightly connected to a corresponding Kubunbu release, they have renamed it, so that this one will be 0704 and later there will be a 0710.
This is release candidate 1 and if no big issues show up, 0704 will be released July 30th..
