Nice looking frontend candidate from Dell

Dell just recently announced the Studio Hybrid PC which actually looks quite nice. The specs are nice too.


xf86-video-intel 2.4.0 released

I’m back from vacation so some of this is a little dated…
Last week Intel released version 2.4.0 of their linux video driver.
The nex X4500 chipset is supported and also there is now HDMI support for the ASUS P5E-VM board. And then of course bugfixes.


Linux 2.6.26 Kernel Released

Lots of changes, but probably the most interesting changes for MythTV builder are these:

Initial Radeon R500 support
Support for Intel G45 chipset
Support added for Hauppauge HVR-850, HVR-900, HVR-950 and HVR-1200


Intel video driver now supports XvMC for 915/945 IGPs

Version 2.3.0 of the xf86-video-intel driver has just been released. The important part for MythTV owners is that it now adds XvMC (X-Video Motion Compensation) support for the Intel 915/945 IGPs.
Actually the XvMC support was added in version 2.2.99.901, but that was considered a release candidate for the 2.3.0 version which has now been released.

Intel cuts prices on Core 2 Duo

Looking to build an energy efficient, yet powerful MythTV box, then this is good news for you. Intel just cut the prices of it’s Core 2 Duo lineup. Expect lower prices in stores already now.
