Schedules Direct has finished the testing and is now ready to take memberships. This was announced yesterday. You can sign up here.
MythTV 0.20.2 has been released and this release supports Schedules Direct. If you are not ready to upgrade yet, you can use XMLTV with Schedules Direct. There is a script available here.

If you are a Vodafone customer, then you should be able to use newly created tool MythSMS. It sends you an SMS and can be used with MythTV user jobs to notify you when a recording or transcoding has finished.

Michael Still, the coauthor of “Practical MythTV” has written a nice howto use the parental filter of MythTV.
