This is based on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) which has a release date of October 30th. The release notes mentions that:
The guided partitoner in the installer will now default the recordings partition to XFS instead of EXT3.
Lots of bug fixes across the board in Ubiquity and Mythbuntu Control Centre.

Dell just recently announced the Studio Hybrid PC which actually looks quite nice. The specs are nice too.

People traditionally use tuners of some sort to get content into MythTV, but video podcasting is getting more and more popular and is often of very high quality. I recently wrote about MyMote, which is an iPhone/iPod Touch application which will let you remote control MythTV. It is basically a replacement for your custom remote control, except that it has built in a TV guide.

On Phoronix they have a new article titled “Boxee: A New Competitor For MythTV?“.
Boxee apparently has a nicer interface than MythTV. This is not a huge surprise. This is well known and currently being worked on for MythTV 0.22. Also Boxee has a social twist to it.

I’m back from vacation so some of this is a little dated…
Last week Intel released version 2.4.0 of their linux video driver.
The nex X4500 chipset is supported and also there is now HDMI support for the ASUS P5E-VM board. And then of course bugfixes.
