I am a big fan of the SilverStone cases, they are of great quality, they look great and there is a big variety to chose from. One of them is the Lascala LC14. It is a case with multimedia buttons on the front and you can get it with or without built in VFD.

Intel video driver now supports XvMC for 915/945 IGPs

Version 2.3.0 of the xf86-video-intel driver has just been released. The important part for MythTV owners is that it now adds XvMC (X-Video Motion Compensation) support for the Intel 915/945 IGPs.
Actually the XvMC support was added in version 2.2.99.901, but that was considered a release candidate for the 2.3.0 version which has now been released.

LinuxMCE 0710 Release Candidate is ready

This release was originally scheduled for November ‘07, but now it seems to be nearing completion. But with Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) out tomorrow it might have been better to release 0710 a bit earlier with fewer features.

Check the very detailed changelog to see if you should upgrade.

Mythbuntu 8.04 Release Candidate now available

Mythbuntu follows the Ubuntu releases and so the release candidate was expected. The final release should be available in six or seven days.
Be aware that this version is not compatible with Mythbuntu 7.10 or any other MythTV 0.20.2 based distribution.
You can read more about it here.

Cable industri to start blocking certain HD content from CableCARDs

There is a very interesting story on HDGuru.com entitled “How The Cable Industry Plans to Cheat 10+ Million HDTV Owners-an HD GURUâ„¢ Investigative Report“.
Apparently the cable industry will introduce something called “Switched Digital Video” (SDV) which will mean that some HD content can no longer be decoded by CableCARDs.
