MythTV 0.21 will be released in February 2008

It has been a long wait… MythTV 0.20 was released on September 11, 2006. In 2007, 0.20.1 and 0.20.2 were released. And now it sounds like MythTV 0.21 will be released in February 2008.

So what do we have to look forward to?  This is a list of the major features slated for 0.21:

  • Added Watch List feature to Watch Recordings listing programs most useful to watch in order to catch up on series and shows you have fallen behind in watching.
  • Added support for QAM recording using HDHomeRun device.
  • Added storage groups. This allows multiple recording directories, where each storage group is a list of directories.
  • Added auto discovery of MythTV servers/frontends
  • Added FLV playback support for MythWeb (read YouTube)
  • Reduced mythfrontend memory consumption by upto 75% depending on theme and resolution.
  • MythDVD plugin merged with MythVideo
  • MythWeather works again
  • Added intelligence to Myth’s shutdown check code to look for pending or running jobs in the JobQueue? when determining whether to shutdown or not.
  • Fixes from mythtv-vid branch

It is still not certain whether the mythtv-multirec branch will be merged into 0.21 before it is released.

    It has not been categorically stated that 0.21 will definitely be released in February.

    The actual statement (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/304388) has hinted that it’s likely to be released before March next year.

    Yes, and “no earlier than February 2008″, so I figured, that makes it February. But you are right, it is not a completely official statement.
