There is currently a lot of activity ongoing trying to organize MythTV installation parties around the world. A date has been set - February 16th 2008 - and people are volunteering to host the event at different venues around the globe.
An installation party will be an event where people can come and try to install MythTV and have expert assistance within reach.
The initiative was started by Golffies and quickly backed by Cecil Watson, the creator of KnoppMyth. This is a quote from him on the idea:
The idea is simple, get together and hopefully introduce new people to
MythTV. Here is what we have in mind:Each location would have a host. The host would be responsible for
finding a location for the party. Ideally, the location would have
Internet access, cable and hopefully be able to get a good OTA signal.
Enough room to work for folks that would be building systems, etc.
The people behind Mythbuntu and MythDora are also supporting the initiative, so it is not meant as a KnoppMyth thing only.
Currently a forum has been created to start the discussion on the various locations. So if you are able to host one of these events, head on over there and make yourself heard.
