For a long time there has been work on the underlying technologies enabling this (gmyth and GMythStream), and now it pays off.
MaemoMyth is a simple MythTV frontend for the Nokia N800 Linux tablet. The features so far are: LiveTV playback and playback of recorded shows. Scheduling of recordings could come in a later version.
To enable this you need to do transcoding on-the-fly on the MythTV backend server (GMythStream), so a low power server might not suffice.
There is a more information and a demo video available on this blog.
