Schedules direct announces pricing - 5$ a month but expected to drop soon

Schedules DirectSchedules Direct has announced pricing for the electronic program guide listings which they have licenced from TMS.

The initial price will be $15 for three months. That may sound a bit steep, but this is just a safe price in case they don’t get the expected number of people to sign up. Remember, this is a new setup, they don’t have a lot of money in the bank and the bills need to be paid. The stated goal is that the price will be $20 for a year.

Since the price is expected to change, you cannot sign up for recurring payment.

So how do you sign up? Well, you can’t at least not yet. But it seems the ball is rolling now, so I expect we will have this pretty soon. You can sign up for the newly formed announcement mailing list and then they’ll let you know when it is ready.

You can find more details about what could be coming later in this post on the mythtv-users mailinglist, which was posted before the official announcement.

  1. I pay $10 a month for my comcast dvr and I dont have to buy the hardware. I think I will stay with comcast till the price drops. Thanks anyway.

  2. I highly value my MythTV box and can do things like automatic commercial skipping and an integrated DVD library system and games. I think I will sign up. Thanks.
