Schedules Direct has just announced that they have licensed television program information for the US and Canada from Tribune Media Services.
This will bring relief to the many MythTV users getting more and more nervous about the potentially missing data after September 1st.
The data will be offered to non-commercial users in the US and Canada and they will have to pay for the service. How much is still unknown, but it will be through Paypal and pricing should become available “shortly”.
Aside from the legal issues, which now seem to have been finalized, there are also some news in the technical department. A web app for managing accounts is existing. So is working grabbers for MythTV, XMLTV and GB-PVR.
Since the URL for where to grab the data is hardcoded into the source code, there are two options for MythTV users. One is to upgrade MythTV, the other is to have mythfilldatabase read from an XML file by using the –file option.

http://www.schedulesdirect.org/ has posted some more information and initial pricing for the service. $20/year sounds good but I’ll be a good MythTV user and help get things going with the initial $15 for 3 months offering.
